2.2 S-10 turbo
« on: April 06, 2005, 06:26:14 AM »

anyone ever turbo'd a 2.2 S-10????  Just something very mild and cheap. Maybe 200-250 fwhp?? I don't have any idea how much the internals will hold up to. Just looking for some extra ummph out of a daily driver.

go to the S10 forums.com or something. The best part is you dont need a special turbo manifold

Look no further I did one. Nice turnout too. I used a 14b from a 1st gen DSM car. A intercooler from a Dodge Daytona. I mounted the turbo remote o nthe passenger side by the ront of the intake. I just ran the crossover pipe up to it from under the bellhousing. Used 2 1/4" pipe for everything from the crossover to the downpipe and the cold side pluming. I used the stock pump and injectors with a Cartec FMU. I cut the factory wastegate spring in half and ended up with 4.5psi. I used the LM-1 for tuning and ran 93oct. fuel with no kr at all. It went from runing 18's to high 14's with just 4.5psi and still got 26-29mpg. It was a ton of fun. IT was a 5sp 3.73 gear truck with a zexel in it lowered 5-6.  I had the afr at about 12.5:1 in first gear then it got richer till it hit about 11.8:1 in 4th at wot. It was a ton of fun and I would definatly do it agian. It was so quite with the dynomax ultra-flow it was rediculus. Fun little street racer. It had no problem passing on the highway in 5th gear either.

What did you use for tuning?  I have a 2.2L S-dime that I'm debating on putting an LS1 into.  Might try the turbo route first. Wink

grimpalaTT,

I was just reading your signature, I would like to pick your brain a little about your setup as I am running the exact same shortblock you are down to the LT4 nodular crank..

I will PM you so not to hijack this interesting thread!

I was wondering the same thing.  I can't believe you resisted the urge to wrap that boost needle.  A Holley (Warlbro) 255lph in-tank pump got me up to 10psi semi-safely (12.8AFR w/o alky injection) using the Cartech FMU.  I was running around 120psi of fuel pressure!

I cannot find any damn pics, they were on the shop computer that had a major melt down long ago. I will ask some freinds if they have any pics of my old winter beater for you guys. That truck sure was fun.
