Background:
I bought this car from my father in 1998... it was stock until the
performance bug bit me and I bought a cobra intake, tfs heads, etc. and it was
a fairly mild car that ran 12.52 @ 108 with full interior, ac, etc. I graduated
from school and had a bit more income to waste on the car so I bought an s-trim
blower. I made 515 rwhp with the s-trim and ran an 11.32 @ 123. I found a good
deal on a used t-trim blower so I picked that up and the power went up to 612
rwhp. I ran a 10.80 @ 130 pass but blew a headgasket due to tuning issues...
while the heads were off I sent them to Total Engine Airflow for some porting.
At the same time I had been building an A4 block 348 CID stroker that I put
in the car and ran N/A for awhile. It ran 11.48 @ 117 with a tremec which wasn't
too bad, but I wanted more, so I put a Vortech YS-trim blower on the car. With
the 5 speed and 15 psi, I ran 9.8at 142 mph. Eventually after wearing out clutches
with regularity I decided to buy an automatic transmission, which helped me
whittle the times down to 9.09 @ 152. However, at this point I started having
belt issues with the blower and as a result decided to go turbocharged. I picked
up a PT-88 4 bolt turbo and had my friend 302_plus_a_few fab up a turbo kit
for me. I went faster with the turbo with less timing and boost... I was instantly
hooked. I ended up running a best of 8.94 @ 159 on drag radials with the 88mm
(5.9 1/8 mile time) and a best of 5.56 @ 127 in the 1/8th mile on slicks @ 21
psi. For some reason I wanted more from the car so I sold off the old combination
and that's how I got where I am now.
